Binghamton Rumble Ponies

Named for the vintage carousels that earned Binghamton the title of 'Carousel Capital of the World,' the Rumble Ponies are the Mets' Double-A proving ground—a franchise that produced the 2025 Eastern League champions and has been sending future stars to Queens since 1992.

The Binghamton Rumble Ponies are the Double-A affiliate of the New York Mets, playing in the Eastern League at Mirabito Stadium in Binghamton, New York. The franchise arrived in 1992 when the Mets purchased the Williamsport Bills and relocated them to the Southern Tier of New York State. Originally known as the Binghamton Mets, the team rebranded as the Rumble Ponies in 2017, adopting a name that celebrates the city's unique claim to fame as the "Carousel Capital of the World"—home to six vintage carousels donated by local philanthropist George F. Johnson.

Mirabito Stadium has been the team's home throughout its Binghamton tenure, serving as the stage where generations of Mets prospects have honed their skills before the bright lights of Citi Field. The franchise has been a critical development stop for some of the most prominent players in Mets history, including David Wright, Jose Reyes, and more recent stars who have passed through the system on their way to Queens.

The 2025 season was the greatest in franchise history. Under manager Reid Brignac, the Rumble Ponies posted a dominant 90-46 record—the best in the Eastern League and franchise history—winning both the first-half and second-half Northeast Division titles before capturing the Eastern League championship with an 8-2 victory over the Erie SeaWolves in Game 3. The championship was the franchise's first since 1994.

After ownership changes from local investors to Diamond Baseball Holdings in 2024, the Rumble Ponies enter a new chapter backed by institutional resources while maintaining their deep connection to the Binghamton community and the Mets' development pipeline.
