Chattanooga Lookouts
With roots stretching back to 1909, the Chattanooga Lookouts are one of the oldest names in minor league baseball—and they're entering 2026 with a brand-new ballpark at Erlanger Park, a sparkling venue built on the bones of a historic foundry that represents the next chapter for this Reds affiliate.
The Chattanooga Lookouts are the Double-A affiliate of the Cincinnati Reds, playing in the Southern League at the brand-new Erlanger Park in Chattanooga, Tennessee. Named for nearby Lookout Mountain—the site of a pivotal Civil War battle—the franchise has been a fixture of Tennessee baseball since 1909, making it one of the oldest continuously operating names in minor league baseball.
Erlanger Park, which opens on April 14, 2026, represents a transformative moment for the franchise. The 8,032-seat ballpark is located in Chattanooga's South Broad District, built on the site of the historic Wheland Foundry and incorporating preserved industrial buildings into a modern entertainment complex. The Pattern Shop, built in 1936, has been repurposed as an indoor event venue, while a 360-degree wrap-around concourse offers distinct experiences and vantage points. The new venue replaces AT&T Field, which served as the team's home since 2000.
The Lookouts' history is remarkably deep. The franchise has been affiliated with numerous major league organizations over its century-plus existence, including long partnerships with the Washington Senators, Phillies, Reds, and Twins. The team won Southern League championships in 1988, 2015, and shared the 2017 title. The 2015 championship came as a Twins affiliate, with future star Max Kepler starring in the clinching game, while the 2017 team posted a spectacular 91-49 regular season record.
Owned by Hardball Capital, led by CEO Jason Freier, the Lookouts resumed their Reds affiliation in 2019 and have been developing Cincinnati's prospects ever since. Manager Jose Moreno returns for a fifth season in 2026, providing continuity as the team transitions to its spectacular new home.
