Corpus Christi Hooks
Perched on the Corpus Christi Bay with one of the most stunning waterfront settings in all of minor league baseball, the Hooks have been the Astros' Double-A pipeline since 2005—the proving ground where future World Series champions like Carlos Correa, Jose Altuve, and Alex Bregman first made their mark.
The Corpus Christi Hooks are the Double-A affiliate of the Houston Astros, playing in the Texas League at Whataburger Field in Corpus Christi, Texas. Since their inaugural season in 2005, the Hooks have been exclusively affiliated with the Astros, serving as the critical middle step in a development pipeline that has produced multiple World Series champions and All-Stars.
Whataburger Field, a 7,000-seat ballpark on the shores of Corpus Christi Bay, is widely regarded as one of the most beautiful settings in all of minor league baseball. The waterfront location, gulf breezes, and harbor views create an atmosphere unlike any other in the Texas League. Named for the beloved Texas-based fast food chain, the ballpark has been a community gathering place for two decades.
The Hooks' alumni list reads like an Astros Hall of Fame. Jose Altuve, Carlos Correa, Alex Bregman, George Springer, Dallas Keuchel, and Lance McCullers Jr. all developed in Corpus Christi before powering Houston to World Series titles in 2017 and 2022. The 2015 team posted an impressive 89-win season, while the 2018 squad went 82-56 under manager Omar Lopez, earning him Texas League Manager of the Year honors.
After being owned directly by the Astros organization since 2013, the Hooks were sold to Diamond Baseball Holdings in December 2025 while maintaining their Astros affiliation. The franchise enters a new ownership era under manager Ricky Rivera for the 2026 season.
