Hartford Yard Goats

The Colorado Rockies' Double-A affiliate, the Hartford Yard Goats play at the award-winning Dunkin' Park in Connecticut's capital city, where a quirky name, a beloved mascot, and one of the best ballpark experiences in minor league baseball have turned a rocky start into a thriving franchise.

The Hartford Yard Goats are the Double-A affiliate of the Colorado Rockies, playing in the Eastern League at Dunkin' Park in Hartford, Connecticut. The franchise relocated from New Britain in 2016 under owner Josh Solomon, who rebranded the team with one of the most distinctive names in all of professional sports. Despite an infamous first season spent entirely on the road due to ballpark construction delays, the Yard Goats have become one of the most popular and successful franchises in minor league baseball.

Dunkin' Park, which finally opened for the 2017 season, was voted the best Double-A ballpark by Ballpark Digest in both 2017 and 2018. The 6,121-seat downtown Hartford venue has become a catalyst for economic development in the capital city and consistently ranks among the top draws in the Eastern League. The Yard Goats' creative branding, featuring the beloved Chompers mascot, has generated a national following and strong merchandise sales.

On the field, the Yard Goats have served as a critical development stop for Rockies prospects. The 2022 team posted 77 wins, the most in franchise history, while the 2024 squad went 76-60 and made the playoffs. Managers have included Jerry Weinstein, Warren Schaeffer (later promoted to Triple-A and then the Rockies' major league staff), Chris Denorfia, and Bobby Meacham.

For 2026, Robinson Cancel takes over as the sixth manager in franchise history, bringing a decade of experience in the Rockies' player development system to a franchise that has firmly established itself as a cornerstone of Hartford's sports and entertainment landscape.
