Midland RockHounds

Deep in the heart of West Texas oil country, the Midland RockHounds are the Athletics' Double-A affiliate and one of the most storied franchises in the Texas League, having captured an unprecedented four consecutive league championships from 2014 to 2017—a feat matched only once in the league's 136-year history.

The Midland RockHounds are the Double-A affiliate of the Athletics, playing in the Texas League at Momentum Bank Ballpark in Midland, Texas. The franchise has been a fixture in West Texas since 1972, operating under various names before adopting the RockHounds identity in 1999 alongside a new affiliation with the Oakland A's that has endured for over two decades.

Momentum Bank Ballpark provides a comfortable setting in the heart of the Permian Basin, where the oil industry has long been the economic driver and the RockHounds have been the sporting centerpiece. The franchise's connection to its community is deep, with generations of Midland families growing up watching future major leaguers develop at the ballpark.

The RockHounds' crowning achievement is their historic four consecutive Texas League championships from 2014 through 2017, a run that stands as one of the most remarkable in minor league baseball history. Only the Fort Worth Panthers, who won six straight from 1920-25, have matched or exceeded that feat in the Texas League's 136-year existence. Manager Ryan Christenson led the 2015 team to a franchise-record 83 wins and the 2016 squad to another title before Fran Riordan completed the four-peat in 2017.

Under Diamond Baseball Holdings ownership since late 2022 and managed by Gregorio Petit entering his third season in 2026, the RockHounds continue to develop Athletics talent while maintaining their position as one of the Texas League's most decorated and community-oriented franchises.
