Portland Sea Dogs

One of the Eastern League's most iconic franchises, the Portland Sea Dogs have been developing Red Sox talent at their beloved Hadlock Field home since 2003, producing a staggering number of World Series heroes and All-Stars who first honed their craft in Maine's largest city.

The Portland Sea Dogs are the Double-A affiliate of the Boston Red Sox, playing in the Eastern League at Delta Dental Park at Hadlock Field in Portland, Maine. An Eastern League expansion franchise, the Sea Dogs began play in 1994 as a Florida Marlins affiliate before joining the Red Sox system in 2003—a partnership that has produced one of the most prolific talent pipelines in minor league baseball.

Hadlock Field, nestled in Portland's charming Old Port neighborhood, has become one of the most beloved ballparks in minor league baseball since its renovation to host the Sea Dogs. The intimate, 7,368-seat venue offers stunning views of Portland's cityscape and has drawn strong crowds throughout the franchise's three-decade history.

The list of future major leaguers who have worn a Sea Dogs uniform reads like a Red Sox Hall of Fame: Dustin Pedroia, Jon Lester, Xander Bogaerts, Mookie Betts, Rafael Devers, and many others who went on to win World Series titles in Boston. The franchise captured the Eastern League championship in 2006 and has been a consistent contender. Chad Epperson returns as manager in 2026 for his fifth season, having become the winningest manager in franchise history in 2025. The team was sold by the founding Burke family to Diamond Baseball Holdings ahead of the 2023 season.
