Historical Figures
Former Chairman & Owner
Malaysian entrepreneur Tony Fernandes, founder of AirAsia, purchased QPR in 2011 shortly after promotion to the Premier League. His ownership was marked by ambition and heavy investment in players, but the spending proved unsustainable. Two relegations and an EFL Financial Fair Play fine left a challenging financial legacy. Fernandes gradually reduced his involvement before transferring his stake.
Former Owners
Italian businessman Flavio Briatore and Formula One supremo Bernie Ecclestone took over QPR in 2007 when the club was in the Championship. Their flamboyant ownership brought attention and investment but was also controversial. They sold to Tony Fernandes in 2011 after QPR had won promotion to the Premier League.
