Wrexham Association Football Club
The oldest club in Wales and the third-oldest professional club in the world, Wrexham have been reborn under the Hollywood ownership of Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney, whose three promotions in four seasons have carried the club from the National League to the Championship for the first time in their history — a fairytale chronicled by their global documentary series.
Current Leadership
Co-Owner
Canadian-American actor Ryan Reynolds, best known for his role as Deadpool, co-purchased Wrexham AFC alongside Rob McElhenney in February 2021. Reynolds has brought global visibility, significant investment, and genuine emotional commitment to the club. His involvement helped fund back-to-back promotions from the National League to League One, the expansion of the Racecourse Ground, and the creation of the award-winning documentary series 'Welcome to Wrexham.'
Co-Owner
American actor, writer, and producer Rob McElhenney, creator and star of 'It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia,' co-owns Wrexham alongside Ryan Reynolds. McElhenney was the driving force behind the initial idea to buy a football club, and his passion for the community side of the project has been central to the takeover's success. He has been a regular presence at the Racecourse Ground and has embraced Welsh culture and the club's traditions wholeheartedly.

Historical Figures
Former Owners
The Wrexham Supporters Trust took ownership of the club in 2011 after years of instability under private ownership. The Trust stabilised the club's finances, maintained its community focus, and kept Wrexham alive during their years in the National League. In February 2021, 98.6% of Trust members voted to approve the sale to Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney, recognising that the investment needed to win promotion was beyond the Trust's means.
