Carol and Kevin Shanahan completed their takeover of Port Vale in 2019, rescuing the club from a period of financial instability under previous owner Norman Smurthwaite. The Shanahans, who are local business people with deep roots in the Stoke-on-Trent area, have stabilized the club's finances and invested in the squad and facilities at Vale Park.
