Merritt Paulson
2007–2024Former Owner
Merritt Paulson, son of former U.S. Treasury Secretary Hank Paulson, purchased the Timbers in 2007 and led the franchise into MLS in 2011. Under his ownership the Timbers won the 2015 MLS Cup and became one of the most passionate supporter cultures in North American soccer. He also oversaw the renovation of Providence Park. Paulson sold the club in 2024 amid controversy surrounding the Portland Thorns.
