San Jose Earthquakes
Twice champions, once relocated, and forever scrappy - the San Jose Earthquakes are Silicon Valley's original soccer club, a franchise that has survived more existential crises than most leagues and keeps rumbling back like the seismic force for which it is named.
Current Leadership
Owner
John Fisher, heir to the Gap clothing fortune and managing director of Pisces Inc., has owned the San Jose Earthquakes since 2002. Fisher also previously owned the Oakland Athletics. The Earthquakes opened PayPal Park in 2015 under his ownership, though the club has struggled to maintain consistent on-field competitiveness.

Historical Figures
Founding Operators
The original San Jose franchise, known as the Clash, was among the ten founding MLS teams in 1996. The club operated under MLS's single-entity structure before Fisher acquired operator rights in 2002, shortly after the team rebranded as the Earthquakes.
