National Basketball Association
Basketball is played with five players per side on a 94-by-50-foot court. Teams score by shooting the ball through a 10-foot-high basket: two points from inside the arc, three points from beyond it, and one point per free throw. Games consist of four 12-minute quarters. The shot clock gives teams 24 seconds to attempt a field goal. Personal fouls limit physical contact, and players foul out after six. Overtime periods of five minutes settle tied games.
