Governor & Majority Owner
Quicken Loans founder Dan Gilbert purchased the Cavaliers in 2005 for $375 million and has been one of the most passionate and outspoken owners in the NBA. He famously penned the 'Comic Sans letter' after LeBron James left for Miami in 2010, then welcomed him back in 2014 to deliver Cleveland's first major professional sports championship in 52 years. Gilbert has also invested billions in revitalizing downtown Cleveland's real estate.

Historical Figures
Owner
Gordon Gund, despite being legally blind, owned and operated the Cavaliers for over two decades. He oversaw the construction of Gund Arena (now Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse) and the exciting Mark Price and Brad Daugherty-led teams of the late 1980s and early 1990s. He sold the franchise to Dan Gilbert in 2005.
Founding Owner
Cleveland entrepreneur Nick Mileti brought the NBA to Cleveland by founding the Cavaliers as an expansion franchise in 1970. He also built the Richfield Coliseum and assembled a fledgling organization that struggled in its early years but established professional basketball in northeastern Ohio.
