Real estate and sports mogul Stan Kroenke purchased the Nuggets in 2000 as part of his growing sports empire that includes the Los Angeles Rams, Arsenal FC, Colorado Avalanche, and Colorado Rapids. Under his ownership, the Nuggets won their first NBA championship in franchise history in 2023, led by MVP Nikola Jokic. Kroenke also built Ball Arena (formerly Pepsi Center) and the surrounding entertainment district.

Ascent Entertainment Group CEO Charlie Lyons oversaw the Nuggets during a transitional period that included the construction of the Pepsi Center. Financial difficulties at Ascent led to the sale of the franchise to Stan Kroenke in 2000.

Sidney Shlenker

Houston businessman Sidney Shlenker purchased the Nuggets in 1989 but quickly ran into financial trouble. His brief and turbulent ownership nearly led to the franchise's relocation before COMSAT Video Enterprises stepped in to purchase the team in 1992.
