Historical Figures

Hugh Culverhouse

Founding Owner

1976–1994

Jacksonville attorney Hugh Culverhouse was the Buccaneers' original owner, paying $16 million for the expansion franchise. His tenure was marked by frugality and losing, with the Bucs posting one of the worst records in the NFL during his nearly two decades of ownership. He was removed from ownership by the NFL in 1994.
