Owner & Governor
Tom Gaglardi, a Canadian billionaire who heads the Northland Properties hospitality empire, purchased the Dallas Stars out of bankruptcy in 2011 for approximately $240 million. He stabilized the franchise's finances and invested in building a consistently competitive roster, culminating in multiple deep playoff runs including a trip to the 2020 Stanley Cup Final. Gaglardi has also been a driving force behind developing the Stars' practice facility and community presence in the Dallas-Fort Worth area.

Tom Hicks, a Dallas-based leveraged buyout specialist, purchased the Stars in 1996 and oversaw the franchise's greatest era, including the 1999 Stanley Cup championship. However, his financial empire crumbled during the 2008 recession, and the Stars were placed into bankruptcy in 2011 before being sold to Gaglardi.
