Hasso Plattner, the German-born co-founder of SAP, one of the world's largest enterprise software companies, has owned the San Jose Sharks since 2002. A Silicon Valley resident, Plattner has been a patient owner through years of playoff success and more recent rebuilding efforts. His investment in the franchise and the SAP Center helped establish the Sharks as a cornerstone of South Bay sports culture.

Co-Founding Owner
George Gund III, a Cleveland-based investment banker, co-founded the San Jose Sharks as an expansion franchise in 1991 after selling his ownership stake in the Minnesota North Stars. Gund built the franchise from scratch and established it as a viable NHL market in Northern California before selling to Plattner in 2002.
