Angie Long, along with her husband Chris Long, led the Kansas City–based ownership group that secured the NWSL franchise on December 7, 2020. The Longs have driven the club's vision of establishing the best women's soccer club in the world, including the construction of CPKC Stadium — the first purpose-built stadium for a women's professional team.

Financial executive Chris Long co-owns the Kansas City Current alongside his wife Angie. Together they have invested heavily in the club's infrastructure and player development, building one of the NWSL's model franchises.

Brittany Mahomes purchased a stake in the Kansas City Current in 2021, becoming one of the club's most visible co-owners. Her involvement has helped raise the Current's profile nationally and attract new fans to women's soccer in Kansas City.
