Majority Owner
Michele Kang became the majority owner of the Washington Spirit on March 30, 2022, making her the first woman of color to be majority owner of an NWSL club. A technology entrepreneur and philanthropist, Kang has since built a multi-club soccer empire that includes London City Lionesses and OL Lyonnes. She was honored as ESPN's Sports Philanthropist of the Year in 2025 and played a key role in creating the NWSL's High Impact Player rule that enabled the league to retain top talent.
