Leeds United Football Club
Leeds United Football Club, founded in 1919, are one of the most storied and passionately supported clubs in English football. Based at Elland Road, a ground that has hosted football since 1897, Leeds carry a heritage that includes three First Division titles, an FA Cup, a League Cup, two Inter-Cities Fairs Cups, and a Champions League semi-final in 2001. The club's identity is inseparable from Don Revie's legendary side of the late 1960s and 1970s, which dominated English football with a fearsome blend of skill, discipline, and ruthlessness.
The 21st century, however, has been defined by one of the most dramatic financial collapses in football history. The reckless spending that funded the Champions League era left the club with crippling debts when results failed to match ambitions. Relegation from the Premier League in 2004 began a 16-year exile that took Leeds through League One and sustained periods of Championship mediocrity. Marcelo Bielsa's appointment in 2018 reignited the club, and his iconic two-year spell culminated in the 2019-20 Championship title and a return to the Premier League.
Two seasons in the top flight ended with relegation in 2022-23, and Daniel Farke was appointed to lead the club back. After a heartbreaking play-off final defeat to Southampton in 2023-24, Farke delivered the Championship title in 2024-25 with 100 points, 95 goals scored, and just 4 defeats all season. Now back in the Premier League under 49ers Enterprises' ownership, Leeds face the challenge of establishing themselves in the top flight after years of yo-yoing. The fanbase, one of the largest and most vocal in English football, demands nothing less than sustained Premier League presence.
