American billionaire John W. Henry purchased Liverpool through his Fenway Sports Group (FSG) in October 2010 for approximately 300 million pounds. Under FSG's ownership, Liverpool have won the Champions League (2019), Premier League (2020, 2025), FA Cup (2022), and League Cup (2022, 2024). The expansion of the Anfield Road End, completed in 2023, increased capacity to over 61,000.

Historical Figures

Tom Hicks & George Gillett

Co-Owners

2007–2010

American businessmen Tom Hicks and George Gillett purchased Liverpool in 2007 with promises of a new stadium and investment in the squad. Their tenure was widely regarded as disastrous: the new stadium never materialised, the club was loaded with debt, and relations with supporters deteriorated to the point of legal action. They were forced to sell to FSG in 2010 against their wishes after the club's debts became unsustainable.

David Moores

Chairman & Owner

1991–2007

David Moores was a lifelong Liverpool supporter who served as chairman for 16 years. A member of the Moores family that had long been associated with the club, he oversaw the managerial appointments of Graeme Souness, Roy Evans, Gerard Houllier, and Rafael Benitez. He sold the club to Hicks and Gillett in 2007, a decision he later expressed regret over.
