Current Leadership
Majority Owners
The Glazer family, led by the late Malcolm Glazer's sons Joel and Avram, completed a leveraged buyout of Manchester United in 2005 that loaded the club with approximately 790 million pounds in debt. Their ownership has been deeply unpopular with supporters, who blame the Glazers for saddling the club with interest payments, underinvesting in Old Trafford's infrastructure, and prioritising dividends over on-pitch performance. Despite years of protest and multiple offers to sell, the Glazers retain majority ownership of the club.
Minority Owner (Football Operations)
British billionaire Sir Jim Ratcliffe, through his INEOS group, acquired a 27.7% stake in Manchester United in early 2024 and took control of football operations. Ratcliffe, a lifelong United supporter and the founder of the INEOS chemicals empire, has overseen a restructuring of the club's sporting department, bringing in former Barcelona executive Omar Berrada as CEO and former Manchester City sporting director Dan Ashworth. His tenure has already seen two managerial changes, with Michael Carrick currently serving as interim manager following Ruben Amorim's sacking.
