Inland Empire 66ers
Named for the iconic Route 66 highway that runs through San Bernardino, the Inland Empire 66ers begin a new era in 2026 as the Single-A affiliate of the Seattle Mariners after 15 years with the Angels.
The Inland Empire 66ers are a Single-A affiliate in the California League, playing at San Manuel Stadium in San Bernardino, California. For 2026, the 66ers begin a new chapter as the Single-A affiliate of the Seattle Mariners, ending a 15-year partnership with the Los Angeles Angels that defined the modern era of the franchise.
The franchise arrived in San Bernardino in 1993 when the Salinas Spurs relocated under owners Dave Elmore and Donna Tuttle. Originally known as the San Bernardino Stampede, the team was rebranded as the Inland Empire 66ers in 2003, taking its name from the legendary Route 66 highway that passes through the city. The name connected the franchise to one of America's most iconic cultural symbols and gave the team a regional identity that extends across Southern California's sprawling Inland Empire.
San Manuel Stadium, originally opened in 1996 and renamed through a sponsorship deal in 2012, has been the team's only home under the 66ers identity. The venue provides a classic minor league experience in the heart of San Bernardino, offering families an affordable entertainment option in one of Southern California's fastest-growing regions.
Diamond Baseball Holdings acquired the franchise from the Elmore Sports Group in 2024, ending over three decades of founding-ownership. Under new manager Luis Caballero, the 66ers enter the Mariners era with a fresh coaching staff and the organizational backing of one of baseball's most respected player development systems. The Mariners' return to San Bernardino carries special historical significance, as the original San Bernardino Spirit was a Seattle affiliate from 1987 to 1992.
