Al-Ahli Saudi FC

The 2025 AFC Champions League winners and Jeddah's green-and-white pride, Al-Ahli Saudi FC have combined nearly nine decades of tradition with PIF-era star power to become one of Asia's most formidable clubs.

Al-Ahli Saudi FC, founded in 1937 by students of Jeddah's Al-Falah School, are one of the most decorated clubs in Saudi Arabian football. With nine league titles, thirteen King's Cup trophies, and the 2025 AFC Champions League Elite crown, Al-Ahli have maintained a position among the kingdom's elite for nearly nine decades.

The club's identity is rooted in Jeddah. As one of the four founding members of the Saudi Pro League, Al-Ahli have spent almost their entire history in the top flight — a remarkable run that was only briefly interrupted by a shock relegation in the 2021-22 season, followed by an immediate return. The bounce-back proved the resilience that has always defined this institution.

The PIF era, which began with a 75% stake acquisition in 2023, has elevated Al-Ahli's ambitions to new heights. The club signed Roberto Firmino, Riyad Mahrez, and Franck Kessié, among others, assembling a squad capable of competing on multiple fronts. Under German manager Matthias Jaissle, who arrived from Red Bull Salzburg in 2023, Al-Ahli won the 2024-25 AFC Champions League Elite, defeating Kawasaki Frontale 2-0 in the final at King Abdullah Sports City with goals from Galeno and Kessié.

Al-Ahli's rivalry with Al-Ittihad — the Jeddah or Western Derby — is one of the most passionate in Saudi football, splitting the city along green-and-white and black-and-gold lines. With continental silverware, PIF backing, and a young, hungry squad, Al-Ahli are positioned to challenge for the league title while defending their Asian crown.
