Al-Ettifaq FC

Born from the merger of three Dammam clubs in 1945, Al-Ettifaq were the first Saudi team to win an international title and remain the Eastern Province's most storied football institution.

Al-Ettifaq FC — meaning "The Agreement" — were formed in 1945 through the merger of three clubs in Dammam, and the name itself reflects that spirit of unity. Based in Saudi Arabia's Eastern Province, the club have carved out a proud history as pioneers of Saudi football, becoming the first Saudi team to win an international title with their 1984 Arab Club Champions Cup triumph.

Domestically, Al-Ettifaq have won three league titles and hold the distinction of being the first Saudi club to complete an unbeaten league season. Their trophy cabinet includes King's Cup, Crown Prince Cup, and GCC Champions League titles, making them one of the most decorated clubs outside the traditional Riyadh-Jeddah axis.

The modern era has brought new challenges and global attention. Steven Gerrard's appointment as manager in 2023 drew international headlines, though his tenure proved difficult and ended in January 2025. Saudi coach Saad Al-Shehri took over and has been tasked with stabilizing the club. Al-Ettifaq's EGO Stadium in Dammam provides a passionate Eastern Province atmosphere on matchdays.

Despite competing in a league increasingly dominated by PIF-backed superclubs, Al-Ettifaq's identity as the Eastern Province's flagship club ensures they remain a vital part of Saudi football's fabric.
