Damac FC

Damac FC were founded in 1972 in Khamis Mushait, a city in the Asir Mountains of southwestern Saudi Arabia known for its cooler climate and stunning landscapes. Named after Damac Mountain, a prominent peak near the city, the club became a focal point for the local community's sporting ambitions. For their first three decades, Damac competed exclusively in the lower tiers of Saudi football, primarily the Second and Third Divisions. The club developed a loyal following in the Asir region but lacked the financial resources and infrastructure to challenge for promotion to the top flight. Despite these limitations, Damac served as an important grassroots institution, nurturing local talent and providing the Khamis Mushait community with a sense of sporting identity distinct from the dominant clubs of Riyadh, Jeddah, and the Eastern Province.

The 2000s and 2010s saw Damac gradually improve their standing in Saudi football's pyramid, though the journey was far from linear. The club experienced multiple promotion and relegation cycles between the First Division (second tier) and the lower divisions, building experience and infrastructure with each cycle. Investment in the club's academy and facilities slowly raised Damac's competitiveness, and by the mid-2010s, the club had become a regular presence in the First Division. The 2018-19 season proved to be the breakthrough campaign: Damac secured promotion to the Saudi Pro League for the first time in their history, a landmark achievement that was celebrated across the Asir region. The promotion was the culmination of years of steady progress and represented one of the most significant moments in the club's existence.
