Rochester Red Wings
One of the oldest franchises in minor league baseball history, the community-owned Rochester Red Wings have been a pillar of upstate New York since 1899 and now serve as the Washington Nationals' Triple-A affiliate at Innovative Field.
The Rochester Red Wings are one of the most storied franchises in all of minor league baseball, with a lineage stretching back to 1899. Community-owned since 1957, when businessman Morrie Silver organized a stock drive that brought 8,222 shareholders into Rochester Community Baseball, the Red Wings are one of only two publicly owned professional sports franchises in America.
Innovative Field, which opened in 1997 at One Morrie Silver Way, provides a modern home befitting the franchise's historic prestige. The 13,584-seat ballpark in downtown Rochester replaced aging Silver Stadium and has been a consistent draw for fans across the Finger Lakes region. A statue of Morrie Silver and a young fan stands outside the main entrance, honoring the man who saved the franchise.
The Red Wings have maintained affiliations with some of baseball's most iconic organizations: the St. Louis Cardinals (1929-1960), Baltimore Orioles (1961-2002), Minnesota Twins (2003-2020), and now the Washington Nationals (2021-present). Manager Matt LeCroy returns for his sixth season in 2026, the longest managerial tenure in the franchise's modern era, with a coaching staff that includes longtime hitting coach Brian Daubach and new pitching coach Fernando Nieve.
The franchise has won 10 Governors' Cup titles and four Junior World Series championships, a record of sustained excellence that spans generations of Rochester baseball fans.
