Salt Lake Bees
The Los Angeles Angels' Triple-A affiliate, the Salt Lake Bees carry on the Wasatch Front's proud professional baseball tradition with new manager Doug Davis at the helm for 2026 and a new ballpark that opens a fresh chapter for the franchise.
The Salt Lake Bees are the Los Angeles Angels' Triple-A affiliate, continuing a professional baseball tradition in the Salt Lake City area that stretches back over a century. The franchise, which began play as the Buzz in 1994 before becoming the Stingers and then the Bees, has been affiliated with the Angels since 2001 — one of the longest continuous partnerships in the Pacific Coast League.
The Bees play at The Ballpark at America First Square in South Jordan, a new facility that represents the franchise's commitment to the growing Wasatch Front community. The team previously played at Smith's Ballpark (formerly Franklin Covey Field) in downtown Salt Lake City for over two decades before transitioning to their new home.
New manager Doug Davis takes over for 2026, arriving after three successful seasons leading the Round Rock Express, where he compiled a 237-210 record and guided Round Rock to a franchise-record 89 wins in 2025. Davis replaces Keith Johnson, who was promoted to serve as third base coach for the major league Angels. The coaching staff includes returning pitching coach Shane Loux, hitting coach Alonzo Powell, and bench coach Jack Santora.
The Bees have developed notable Angels contributors including Mike Trout (who played briefly in Salt Lake), Shohei Ohtani (for rehab assignments), and other key pieces of the Angels' roster. The franchise is owned by Diamond Baseball Holdings.
