The Springfield Cardinals are the Double-A affiliate of the St. Louis Cardinals, playing in the Texas League at Hammons Field in Springfield, Missouri. The franchise was established in 2005 when the St. Louis Cardinals purchased the El Paso Diablos and relocated them to Springfield, drawn by a new ballpark built by local benefactor John Q. Hammons and the strategic location in the Ozarks region.

Hammons Field, with a capacity of approximately 8,000, has been the team's home since the franchise's inception and is considered one of the finest venues in the Texas League. The ballpark's lease runs through 2038, ensuring long-term stability for the franchise.

Notable alumni include Yadier Molina, Adam Wainwright, Matt Carpenter, Randy Arrozarena, Dylan Carlson, Lance Lynn, and many others who have contributed to St. Louis's sustained success. The franchise won Texas League championships in 2012 and 2025, with the latter coming under manager Patrick Anderson, who was named Texas League Manager of the Year. The team was sold by the St. Louis Cardinals to Diamond Baseball Holdings in 2023 but maintains its MLB affiliation through 2031.
