Historical Figures
Owner & Chairman
Tech entrepreneur Mel Morris purchased Derby County in 2015 and invested heavily in an attempt to reach the Premier League, including hiring managers such as Frank Lampard and Phillip Cocu. However, unsustainable spending and financial mismanagement led to the club entering administration in September 2021, with Morris's tenure ending as one of the most cautionary tales in English football ownership.
