Post-administration revival continues under new leadership

Derby County's remarkable recovery from the brink of extinction continues in 2025-26. After administration, a 21-point deduction, and relegation to League One in 2021-22, the Rams won promotion back to the Championship in 2023-24 under Paul Warne. His departure in February 2025 after a run of seven consecutive defeats led to the appointment of John Eustace, who has stabilized the club and pushed them into the top half of the table. Pride Park is buzzing again.

Brian Clough's legacy looms large at Pride Park

The statue of Brian Clough and Peter Taylor outside Pride Park serves as a daily reminder of Derby County's greatest era, when Clough led the Rams to the First Division title in 1972. That heritage weighs heavily on a club that has spent much of the past two decades in the lower divisions, and every step back toward the top flight is framed against the standard Clough set. The supporters demand entertaining, ambitious football, and Eustace's side is beginning to deliver it.
