Current Leadership
Owner & Governor (via MSG Sports)
James Dolan controls the New York Rangers through Madison Square Garden Sports, of which he is executive chairman. The Rangers are part of an iconic sports and entertainment empire that includes Madison Square Garden itself and the NBA's New York Knicks. Dolan's tenure has been marked by a willingness to spend on talent but also by controversy, though the Rangers have been consistently competitive with a strong front office.
Parent Company
MSG Sports is the publicly traded entity that owns the Rangers and Knicks. The company was spun off from its entertainment division in 2020, creating a pure-play sports business. The Rangers play at Madison Square Garden, one of the most famous arenas in the world, which has been their home since 1968.
