Historical Figures
Former Owner
Eugene Melnyk, a Canadian pharmaceutical entrepreneur, purchased the Ottawa Senators in 2003 when the franchise was on the brink of bankruptcy. His ownership was marked by periods of competitiveness, including a 2007 Stanley Cup Final appearance, but also by austerity measures and public feuds with fans and municipal officials. Melnyk passed away in March 2022, and the team was subsequently sold by his estate.
