Current Leadership
Owner & Governor
Ryan Smith, the billionaire co-founder of tax software company Qualtrics, purchased the Arizona Coyotes and relocated the franchise to Salt Lake City in 2024, rebranding them as the Utah Mammoth (initially known as the Utah Hockey Club). Smith also owns the NBA's Utah Jazz and the MLS's Real Salt Lake, and he has committed to building a new arena district in Salt Lake City. His ownership has energized the Utah sports market, where hockey had no previous NHL presence.
Co-Owner
Ashley Smith, Ryan's wife and business partner, is co-owner of the Utah Mammoth and the Utah Jazz. She has been actively involved in community initiatives and the development of the Smith Entertainment Group's vision for sports and entertainment in Salt Lake City.

Historical Figures
Former Owner (Arizona Coyotes)
Alex Meruelo, a Cuban-American billionaire with holdings in hotel-casinos and media, owned the Arizona Coyotes from 2019 to 2024. His tenure was marked by the team's eviction from their Glendale arena, a temporary relocation to Arizona State University's 5,000-seat arena, and ultimately the sale and relocation of the franchise to Utah.
