Saudi Pro League
The Saudi Pro League operates with 18 teams playing a double round-robin schedule of 34 matches per season, running from August through May. Each match awards three points for a win and one for a draw. The team finishing atop the table is crowned champion. The bottom two teams are automatically relegated to the Saudi First Division, while the First Division's top two are promoted. A third relegation/promotion spot is decided by a playoff between the 16th-placed SPL team and the 3rd-placed First Division team.
Each club may register up to eight foreign players in their squad, with a maximum of seven permitted on the matchday roster. The top finishers qualify for the AFC Champions League Elite, with the number of spots determined by the AFC's coefficient ranking for Saudi Arabia. The Saudi Super Cup, contested between the league champion and the King's Cup winner, opens each new season. VAR (Video Assistant Referee) technology is used in all matches, and the league follows standard FIFA Laws of the Game.
