Qassim Roots
Decades of lower-division football in Saudi Arabia's heartland.
Al-Hazem were founded in 1957 in Ar Rass, a city in the Qassim Province of central Saudi Arabia. For nearly five decades, the club competed in the lower divisions of Saudi football, serving as the primary sporting institution for the Ar Rass community. The Qassim region, known for its agricultural heritage and central location, provided a stable but modest base for the club. Al-Hazem built a reputation for developing local talent and maintaining a competitive presence in the second tier, waiting patiently for the opportunity to break through to the top flight. That breakthrough came in 2005 when the club won the First Division championship, earning their first promotion to the Saudi Pro League.

The Yo-Yo Years
Multiple promotions and relegations, but always bouncing back.
Since their first promotion in 2005, Al-Hazem have experienced the full spectrum of emotions that come with being a smaller club in an elite league. The club have been promoted and relegated multiple times, developing a reputation as a 'yo-yo club' that moves between the first and second divisions. Each relegation has been followed by determined efforts to return, and each promotion has brought renewed hope to the Ar Rass community. The 2025-26 season marks their eleventh in the top flight, secured by a convincing 3-0 victory over Al-Adalah in the promotion playoff final in May 2025. Under Tunisian manager Jalel Kadri — who brings international experience from his time coaching the Tunisian national team — Al-Hazem aim to establish a more permanent presence in the Saudi Pro League, though survival remains the primary objective in a league where the financial disparity between clubs has never been greater.
