Al-Qadsiah FC

Backed by Aramco and managed by Brendan Rodgers, Al-Qadsiah have transformed from an Eastern Province yo-yo club into one of the Saudi Pro League's most ambitious projects.

Al-Qadsiah FC's story bridges the oil economy and the football pitch. Founded in 1967 in Khobar through the merger of local teams — with roots tracing back to 1935 among Aramco workers — the club have always been intertwined with the Eastern Province's petroleum heritage. That connection became explicit in 2023 when Saudi Aramco acquired the club, making Al-Qadsiah one of the most ambitiously backed teams outside the PIF four.

The Aramco purchase catalyzed a rapid transformation. Robbie Fowler was initially hired as manager, followed by Spanish international Míchel, who led the club to promotion to the Saudi Pro League in 2024. For the 2025-26 season, former Liverpool and Leicester City manager Brendan Rodgers was appointed, signaling the club's intent to compete at the highest level.

Al-Qadsiah's history includes a long tenure in the top flight — they were a regular participant from the league's 1976 inception until their first relegation in 1997 after 21 uninterrupted years. Since then, the club have oscillated between divisions, but the Aramco era promises a different trajectory. Investment in playing squad, coaching, and infrastructure has positioned Al-Qadsiah as the "fifth force" in Saudi football, challenging the PIF four's dominance.

Based in Khobar, the club represent a city that epitomizes the Eastern Province's cosmopolitan character, shaped by decades of international oil industry presence.
