Governor & Managing Owner
Joe Lacob, the majority owner of the NBA's Golden State Warriors, spearheaded the creation of the Valkyries as the WNBA's first expansion team since 2008. The franchise began play in 2025 at Chase Center in San Francisco and was immediately valued at $500 million by Sportico, the highest ever for a women's sports franchise. Under Lacob's ownership, the Valkyries set the WNBA record for wins by an expansion team in their inaugural season.
Co-Owner
Peter Guber, co-owner of the Golden State Warriors and chairman of Mandalay Entertainment, is a key member of the Valkyries ownership group. An entertainment industry veteran and accomplished sports executive, Guber has helped position the Valkyries as a marquee franchise in women's professional sports.
